FS Aviation give a bird’s eye view of the action on Rally Portugal, eventually won by Sébastien Ogier in the Volkswagen Polo R WRC.
Turns out the old dog still knows a few tricks. Despite a few butterflies creeping in pre-event, Sébastien Loeb – whom crankandpiston caught up with for a few words recently – notched up victory number 78 in Argentina, his eighth on the event. Incredibly, despite competing in only three of the first five World Rally Championship rounds in 2013, the reigning WRC Champion still lies second in the standings.
Whilst one Frenchman may be the man of the moment, another is the man on a move. In round four in Portugal, Sébastien Ogier secured a hattrick of victories for Volkswagen at the wheel of the Polo R WRC. Of course victory never comes easily, early charges from Mads Ostberg in the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Ford Fiesta RS and Dani Sordo in the Abu Dhabi Citroen Total World Rally DS3 keeping the Frenchman on his toes before technical issues dropped him to eighth at the flag and a crash knocked Sordo out altogether. Even following their demise, a charge from eventual second-placed Mikko Hirvonen in the Citroen DS3 and a slipping clutch threatened the VW’s victory shout.
As they did in Monte Carlo and Sweden, FS Aviation were on-hand to capture all the action from the air.
