It was my last day out on the lake, and this was the moment that I had been anticipating the most all week. The moment that I had been planning before even embarking on the 17 hour drive to get there.
After years of pouring over images from Bonneville during regular sittings thumbing through my collection of Peter Vincent and David Perry literature, this was finally my chance to have a go myself. It’s safe to say that I’ve got a fair way to go before I could even be mentioned ion the same sentence as those guys, but nevertheless I stored as much inspiration from them in to my head as I could, and lined up the cars for the shoot.
I had already been discussing with the guys from Big Knob Racing about setting something up for a few days, so when the time came, we towed the roadster out away from the pits, and asked Vic O’Niel to bring along ‘The Ace of Spades’, to which he kindly obliged.
It was a great experience, to set up our own Fuel Magazine shoot out on the salt, and a big thanks to the guys for helping to set things up. It was a dream of the last few years come true, and there will of course be a few more pics to come in issue 04.
