Dubai based cadet karting champion Tom Bale recently completed a two day test with the BRM factory race team in Italy. Tom spent a day at the BRM factory having the kart setup and adjusted for him, then two days testing on the Lonato track in South Garda Italy.

The first day of testing was very wet, this is only the second time Tom has driven in wet conditions.

Only four cadet drivers braved the elements on a very wet track. Tom soon learnt that being smooth was only way to stay on the track, Any late braking usually resulted in a trip into the grass.

The sun was out on the final test day.

In the first session of the day Tom was 4th quickest out of 16 drivers. In the next session Tom was told to follow Matia the BRM factory driver to try and learn his lines. After around 4 laps Tom had caught Matia and was sitting on his rear bumper a lap later Tom managed to pass him and started to pull a gap. Tom was now setting the fastest laps of all the drivers.

Tom was the quickest driver on track for the rest of the day. BRM have offered Tom a place to drive for the factory team in the Italian open masters championship. His first in the open masters race will be at Sarno on 16th July.
