It’s the end of a long week at crankandpiston, and as the clock ticks towards 6pm, the facebook checks become more regular and the tweets get more random. Since the email inbox isn’t getting any fuller, it’s usually about this time on a Thursday evening that we hit the Google playground.
Sometimes these random searches unearth monstrously powered V8s or some other stonking powertrain with a bodykit to drool over. And sometimes it unearths Ideal Art Garage. We’re pretty partial to a bit of art on crankandpiston – as you can see here – and these examples from Shibin S. Sain had us immediately hooked, given our penchant for most things motor racing.
“This is how I see it: you are either born with the passion for art or you aren’t,” explains Shibin. “Art for me is the air I breathe: without it I suffocate. It’s the only real language through which I can express myself.”
It’s most certainly a language we can relate to. There’s few on the crankandpiston team that don’t look fondly on this image of the late great Ayrton Senna for instance, the often controversial but brilliant three-time Formula One World Champion depicted here putting the infamous John Player Special black and gold through its paces.
Unsurprisingly, Shibin is a big fan of the motoring world. Indeed, alongside Leonardo Da Vinci, Mahatma Ghandi, the Prophet Mohammed and Steve Jobs (no, really), Senna is one of the artist’s key influences.
