Having qualified 17th, George was also classified 17th when an engine seizure robbed him of a top ten finish with barely 50 laps to run. Both returned for another crack at the 500 the following year but went no further than lap 12.
After sitting undisturbed since 1963, the Lesovsky Roadster was restored in 1994 before becoming part of the Milhous Collection, with whom it remains today. Though Lesovsky never made their way to victory lane, the Indianapolis 500 has shown in over 100 races that history is not always reserved for the winners.
