With final preparations under way for the 2011 Goodwood Revival, we thought it a good opportunity to look back at action from previous years, to show why it’s become one of the top events on the international calendar.

In case you’re not familiar with the event, it sees the Goodwood Circuit in the UK host hundreds of cars from racing’s yesteryears, as well as top drivers the period through to the present day. And they race. Hard. These are cars worth, in some cases, millions of dollars, trading paint and kicking up dust around the track, watched by spectators and officials dressed up in period dress. It’s a massive party, a celebration of motorsport gone by, and it always throws up some brilliant racing.

Here’s just a small example – Minis racing in the St Mary’s Cup, featuring drivers as diverse as former BTCC and F3 racer Robin Brundle (brother of Martin), four-time Le Mans winner Oliver Gavin and Desire Wilson, one of only five women to have raced in F1.
