The Jaguar enthusiasts amongst you may want to take a seat. Or at least angle the back of one hand against your forehead in preparation for a swoon. It has recently been announced that the Jaguar Heritage Museum in Coventry, UK, will close its doors come September after a fifteen-year run.

But before you begin weeping into your keyboards, the marque has also announced that the fleet of classic cars will once again see track action in 2012 as part of the newly launched Jaguar Heritage Racing programme.

Don’t think this will just be a year of concours runs. Race-spec C-Type and D-Type Jaguars, which will receive full works motor racing support for the first time since 1956, will not only take on the Nurbugring in August and the Goodwood Revival in Sepetember, but will also kick off proceedings in May by competing in the mighty Mille Miglia. Jaguar emissary Sir Stirling Moss’s victory at the event in 1955 is now motorsport legend.
