Many of the world’s most desirable and – on occasion – just plain epic cars are celebrated in diecast form: my nine-year-old self won’t forget the 1:18 scale Batmobile in a hurry. In other words, nothing new there then. We figured this offering from Jaguar though was deemed crankandpiston-able, having taking the concept a step further.

Firstly, the Jaguar XJ Speed Form honours the aerodynamics of the company’s flagship saloon. No wheels, windscreens or sealed petrol caps here, minute attention to detail being paid to the bodywork contours.

Secondly, the Speed Form uses similarly lightweight materials as its full-size brethren. The Advanced Aluminium Architecture design premise used when constructing the big cat helped shave 0-100kph times and top speed. That’s now 4.9s and 250kph with the 5.0l V8 for the Curious Geroges amongst you.

And thirdly, each XJ 351 sculpture comes complete with its own presentation case and a certificate signed by the chief designers. A word of warning though. At $595 a pop, you’d best be careful when dusting.
