I have now owned the Subaru for two months, and have managed to rack up 5200km already. This does of course mean the second free service is just around the corner, which is ironic really since this past month has been about sourcing parts and spending money.
It’s hard finding wheels to match the WRX and the search has taken quite some time, but I’ve finally decided on a set of Vossen rims (AutoHaus being one of the first Vossen partners in the Middle East meant they had a nice selection to choose from). We have now ordered 20″x 9″ examples with ET32 for the front and ET34 for the back, which in combination with the KW Clubsport coilovers – when they finally arrive from Germany – should look pretty flush. Big thanks have to go to Tibor at AutoHaus and Ahmed from Vossen UAE for their support and help, especially given the quick turnaround and delivery from the USA. Next month whilst I’m on holiday in Germany, AutoHaus will be re-spraying the car and hopefully installing the parts so that I have a finished product waiting for me when I get back.
Part sourcing aside, the WRX feels like it’s getting stronger everyday. During the first couple of weeks, the Subaru felt like it was struggling in the mid-rev range whilst in Sport mode. Local forums suggested that this could be down to the stock tune, not that this matters since I will soon be undergoing a tune and installing a new air intake and exhaust system. Hopefully after this the WRX will roar like a beast and go like the wind.
