A new NASCAR movie – Logan Lucky – is on its way, directed by Steven Soderbergh and set to star James Bond, Kylo Ren and Magic Mike. Colour us intrigued…
[Not a valid template]Hey movie fans – remember Steven Soderbergh? He’s made some excellent movies, including Out of Sight, Ocean’s Eleven and Erin Brockovich.
Now Soderburgh is making a new film, and it’s going to feature some serious NASCAR action. The US stock car series is collaborating with the Oscar-winning director on a new project called Logan Lucky, which stars Channing Tatum (Magic Mike), Daniel Craig (JAMES BOND, people), Riley Keough (Elvis Presley’s granddaughter), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) and Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy). The film centres around a heist at Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, which, on the face of it, sounds a lot like an Ocean’s Eleven-style caper. But with fast American racing cars instead of Las Vegas. Consider us interested. And let’s be honest, it HAS to be better than Days of Thunder…
This isn’t the first time that Channing Tatum has worked with NASCAR – he and 22 Jump Street co-star Jonah Hill worked as grand marshals for the Pocono 400 in 2014. Sadly, this was merely a ceremonial title. We’d have preferred to have seen them camped out on a corner with a bag of flags for hours on end. Unpaid.
Filming begins at the upcoming Sprint Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 race. Expect to see Logan Lucky released in the autumn of 2017. Perhaps before then though you’d like to see Ryan Blaney, Kyle Larson and Darrell Wallace Jr. among others dice on a go-kart track in the ‘Little 600’
