Mercedes’ new sports car takes on the iconic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Rubber-slaying internet darling Chris Harris has been in America – Laguna Seca to be exact, a legendary racetrack south of San Francisco – and there he’s been trying out Mercedes-Benz’s new AMG GT.
A spiritual successor to the SLS AMG, the AMG GT is more compact and a darn sight cheaper, and is Merc’s attempt to take on the might of the Porsche 911. How successful has it been? Chris attempts to find out by driving it like one should – very fast, and very sideways.
With 503bhp from its4-litre twin-turbo V8, the S version of the AMG GT is not short of grunt. But is that enough to overcome Porsche’s icon? Watch the video to find out.
