In a world of SUV’s and what Marketeers and Brand Directors like to call cross overs, it is so refreshing to see that people are still kicking out saloons. Good old fashioned and beautiful saloon cars! Within the saloon segment there is a growing trend towards to what has been coined the “four-door coupe”. Another segment created for the sake of it then!
However it is a segment that definitely has legs, with likes of Jaguar, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Aston Martin all in on the act. However it all had to start somewhere didn’t it…The Mercedes-Benz CLS.
It has been a solid six years since the CLS first hit the market and even though it still looks as good today as the day it first appeared, it is time for the Mercedes Designers to add the new look and feel to the car. So thanks to an internal, pre Paris Motorshow leak, here are some pics and details of the CLS.

The proportions remain as spectacular as ever; long bonnet, narrow-look windows with frameless side windows, dynamic roof sweeping back at an angle towards the rear. Mind you, I understand the direction they are taking the car, but I prefer the simplicity and concept Mercedes DNA of the old car.

The front gives a very large nod towards the stunning Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, with the radiator grill not integrated into the bonnet but formed separately.

Now stand by for some press release based technology blurb. The CLS is running LED headlamps, which are the world’s first to offer all of the regular dynamic light functions using LED technology. Great for SZR in Dubai when you need to get out of the way as the CLS comes hard charging at you along the outside hard shoulder!

You can quite clearly see the heavy muscular haunch that is now being carried across all model lines within the Mercedes portfolio.
