Yep, it’s another Mercedes, for those of you already familiar with the brand new GLC 43, AMG E43, C-Class Cabriol…oh never mind. Joining the group is the newly facelifted CLA and CLA Shooting Brake, set to hit Mercedes‘ stand at next week’s New York Motor Show.
Squint and you’ll miss them, but the changes include subtly tweaked bumpers, grille, LED headlamps and alloy wheels, while the interior receives new(ish) seat trims, chrome detailing and an updated 8in centre console display. Updates for the Shooting Brake model meanwhile include a new boot spoiler with some added fins for a sportier look, plus its saloon counterpart’s revised bumper and grille.
The 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in the CLA 45 meanwhile has also received a mild power boost, horsepower now up to 376bhp and torque having risen to 475Nm (350lb ft). Though not an enormous growth over the previous model‘s 355bhp and 450Nm (332lb ft) totals, this nevertheless means the compact AMG is capable of 0-100kph in 4.2 seconds. CLA models further down the range though are less lucky, the engine and power options staying put at 120bhp, 154bhp and 181bhp for the 1.6-litre four-cylinder in the CLA 180, 200 and 220, and 215bhp for the 2-litre unit in the CLA 250 Sport. All engines are mated with a seven-speed automatic, the ’45’ model featuring the shorter ratio-ed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT variant.
The facelifted CLA will make its official debut at next week’s New York Motor Show, though don’t expect to see the updated Shooting Brake before April’ Laureus World Sports awards.
