Lotus Motorsport unveils the new Elise S Cup R.
What you’re looking at here is the track only Lotus Elise S Cup R. And we know what you’re all thinking: ‘phwoar!’ But there is more to this looker than a Union Jack stencilled rear wing and a blacked-out headlights.
Firstly, having booted out the Elise’s customary 1.6-litre unit, the Elise S Cup R is the first Lotus Cup to receive the company’s 1.8-litre four-cylinder with Magnuson R900 supercharger. Power and performance figures at the moment are unconfirmed, though we do know the new powerplant spits out 181lb ft of torque, so expect the Elise to be even more nimble through the corners than usual.
Retaining the Lotus Elise S’ 924kg road-going kerb weight, the new Elise S Cup R has been dealt a few extra trinkets, including a six-speed manual gearbox, uprated TCA kit suspension, and a aerodynamic body kit, enough to reduce laptimes over a 5km circuit by as much as 4 seconds.
There’s also the (presumably) glow in the dark yellow paint finish, forged allo wheels shod with Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS tyres, a six-point racing harness, front splitter, barge boards, winglets and a rear diffuser.
And good news. Should of you Lotus owners out there be looking to take on the 2014 Lotus Cup series, the new Elise S Cup R is eligible for competition.
