Anything on four wheels with a 3am curfew in the Middle East is usually worth a quick look. And considering the subject this time is the new Range Rover, chances are also pretty high that our UK and UAE readers may raise an eyebrow at the news too.
We should probably start off by mentioning that words like ‘luxury’, or derivatives thereof, make a few appearances in the official press information, referring to bits and bobs like the leather upholstery,‘acoustic lamination of the windscreen’ (a turn of phrase that made us smile) and refined handling.
Even with these new bolt-on extras, this fourth generation Range Rover is also said to be ‘lighter and stronger’, courtesy of the new suspension and all-aluminium monocoque chassis, which is up to 39% lighter than its preceding steel counterpart. Let’s not forget that cheeky V8 hiding under the bonnet either.
Now, we realize that the latest, luxurious SUV on the surface at least doesn’t sound like crankandpiston fodder. But considering we received footage of extreme weather testing of the new beast in Dubai itself, we figured we owed the latest model one last spot in the limelight.
