By this time all our work on the street was done and we made a mad rush back up the block to catch the last of the celebrities arrive in mass. First up, the gorgeous and incredibly friendly British royal, Zara Philips.
Followed by ex-heart throb to thousands of girls, Simon Le Bon from ’80s band Duran Duran, who was rocking the greatest cookie tickler I’d seen all night.
Alongside Simon was his gorgeous Iranian-British model wife, Yasmin Le Bon.
Red carpet dealt with, it was time to grab a glass of bubbles and head into the media throng to capture the big moment. Thankfully Diz had himself a rather nifty super tall mono-pod to mount the Blackmagic on…
I however didn’t, and just as at the Geneva Motor Show, this was my view. Straight into the back of an attractive, yet moody ladies back.
Then as the music dropped, the launch video began, finished, lights came back on and there appeared Daniel Craig (along with a chap from the charity SAFE, to whom he is donating his $1 million appearance fee).
Sadly by the time I’d made it through the mad rush and up to the front, Daniel Craig had shot off for interviews and the lovely celebs had made their way out and onto another bash. At least I got this handsome chap though. Design director, Gerry McGovern.
Three hours after we arrived, it was a wrap. Content captured, bubbles consumed, celebs spoken too, media fought with and friends made. Oh and not to mention a killer production from Land Rover that, through our eyes at least, seemed to slip by without a hitch.
So, good night New York, see you later, Range Rover Sport, it’s time to head off to enjoy the less salubrious side of life in Manhattan.
