Behind the battle for fifth raged unabated, Jonathan Mullan’s Honda Integra holding off Will Morrison’s Clio despite some late-braking attempts by the Brit. Getting loose on the exit of turn 16, plus a missed braking point through the tricky turn five/six complex kept the Clio framed in Mullan’s rearview mirror.
Eventually the Honda would run out of grip, running just wide enough at turn 14 to open the door for Morrison. The paddock watched, the cars turned, the gap closed, and onlookers held their breath. Once past, Morrison simply walked away from Mullan, the Honda’s grip all but gone.
