8. Bugatti Chiron
Turns out the new Bugatti Chiron is fast. REALLY fast. So fast that during a demonstration run at La Sarthe ahead of this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Chiron hit 380kph, some 37kph more than Audi’s new R18. Y’know, the car that’s won four of Audi’s 13 victories at Le Mans. So yeah, balls-ludicrous levels of grunt there.
That should make the Chiron’s dynamic run at Goodwood all the more interesting, for while its unlikely to hit such trouser-soiling speeds on the hill, Bugatti’s new kid on the block no doubt certainly has the potential to blow the previous benchmarks set by the Veyron into the weeds. After all, 1379bhp and 1180lb ft of torque is produced by an 8-litre quad-turbocharged W16, enough for 0-100kph in less than 2.5 seconds.
Based heavily on the Vision Gran Turismo that appeared last year, the Chiron finally made its static appearance at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show. And we’ve been waiting for show of movable strength ever since…
