As if the range-topping 488 Pista wasn’t enough, the German tuner has taken the mid-engined supercar to the next level
A strong contender in 2018’s eCoty test, the 711bhp Ferrari 488 Pista is the last car we’d ever want to give more power. Of course, in true Novitec style, the German brand knows no bounds, and so set to work adding more power, suspension tweaks and more carbonfibre components to the current pinnacle of the mid-engined Ferrari range.
Working from the outside in, you’ll first notice the addition of more carbon; a larger front splitter, more aggressive side sills, rear spoiler, diffuser and other miscellaneous carbon parts are included alongside tinted lights and a tailor-made bonnet. The brand claims wind tunnel testing allowed it to hone these new components for more performance. Novitec has also collaborated with US wheel manufacturer Vossen to offer forged wheels of up to 22 inches in size – a staggered 21- and 22-inch set-up can be chosen to enhance the wedge. Tyre sizes are 255 at the front and 335 rear.
Now to the engine. Sporting what is essentially an unrestricted 488 Challenge engine from the factory, the Pista was already a rather potent machine, with 711bhp throwing the model from 0 to 100kph in just 2.9sec. The use of two Novitec N-Tronic control modules tweaks fuel injection, ignition timing and boost levels for a staggering 791bhp and 662lb ft of torque – up 80bhp and 94lb ft over stock. Zero to 100kph is knocked down a notch to just 2.7sec, with top speed coming in at 344kph.Advertisement
Other modifications include new hydraulic suspension, lowering ride height by 35mm whilst retaining the stock damper adjustment – front axle lift allows you to raise the nose by 40mm, making clearing speed bumps and steep car park ramps that little bit less stressful. A more free-flowing, sports cat-equipped exhaust system can also be optioned in either steel or inconel, giving the tuned turbocharged eight more breathing room.
As with all Novitec products, should you want your interior a colour that Ferrari simply refuses to offer, the brand can retrim your cockpit in Alcantara and/or leather of any shade.
