Gran Turismo releases a surprisingly moving tribute to the Nürburgring and its legendary 24-hour endurance race.
After more than a year of SRT, Toyota, Chevrolet and even Bugatti ‘Vision’ concepts, the team behind Gran Turismo takes a closer look at what it calls the ’24 Hours of Passion’. This year’s event took place in May and was won by Team WRT’s Audi R8 LMS 2015 only 40 seconds ahead of Team Marc VDS’ BMW Z4 GT3. There’s the obligatory ‘here’s why the Green Hell is awesome’ comments from drivers, team principals and race organisers at the beginning but fortunately this is mixed in with helicopter mood shots, some choice instrumental tunes, and some general fan insanity: we now REALLY need tricycle and a ramp (2m 05s).
Those of you largely uninterested in the opening three-minute pre-amble can skip to the green flag just after the 3m 20s mark. Thereafter we’re treated to close racing action, pit stops gone either right or horribly wrong, some spills on-track and across the grass, and some super slow-mo action through some of the Ring’s killer corners. Oh, and some Gran Turismo hoardings, but then you had to expect that…
