Chris Harris gets his mitts on the all-new Porsche Cayman GT4 for some hot laps at Portimao.
“How on earth do you make a better sports car than this?”
I’m cheating slightly, since the monkey himself Chris Harris is actually referring to the Cayman GTS. Briefly. It’s not too long before, complete with slow mo shots around the Portimao circuit in Portugal, Mr Harris moves on to the new Cayman GT4, a model he calls “the most eagerly anticipated model of 2015.”
The figures being bounced around back this up nicely. Under the, er, ‘bonnet’ is the same 3.8-litre flat six you’ll find in a Porsche Carrera S, power now booted up to 385hp and torque to 309lb ft, all rather helpful when shooting from 0-100kph in 4.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 295kph. Boasting all-new 20in alloys and some beef up suspension, the GT4 also comes with – hurrah! – a six-speed manual gearbox.
Right, enough context. Bring on the sideways smoking tyres…
