Dodge brings back purple paint for new Challenger and Charger
[Not a valid template]Dodge is bringing back Plum Crazy paint on its new Challenger and Charger models for 2016. In recent years, we’ve seen an influx of white cars being sold, but now purple is taking over, with the Volkswagen Scirocco, the Golf, and Audi RS6 Avant among others going more ambitious with their stock paint finishes.
All well and good, but actually, Dodge has been doing it for years. Purple originally debuted for Dodge in 1970 but has cropped up a few times along the years as one limited edition model or another.
Named Plum Crazy, the colour will be available on the aggressive looking SRT Hellcat model, the black striped Shaker model, and the R/T Classic model, as well as others.
Asked about the ‘new’ unveiled, head of Dodge and SRT design Mark Trostle mentioned that the colour “builds on the brand’s muscle-car roots and adds to Challenger and Charger’s vibrant legacy.” That and a whacking great engine under the hood – as we found out recently with the Challenger R/T – probably help too…
