Readers of our last two pieces on the Ferrari FF will already know that we’re pretty sweet on the controversial 4WD. Given the Scuderia’s regular appearance on-site, that probably won’t come as much of a surprise either.

So news hot off the press that German performance specialists Novitec Rosso is now offering an exclusive upgrade package for the FF naturally had our already eagle-eyes out on stalks. Now, a few of you might be thinking, “ah, so some new carpets and a fresh coat of paint then?” Come now…

The new Novitec Rosso edition boasts improved performance for starters, power from the 6.3l V12 being tweaked to add another 42hp to the standard 651hp, and thus raising the top speed to 340kph, for those of you who thought 335kph just wasn’t enough.

But let’s not the new cosmetic modifications. As well as new carbon fibre wing mirrors, roof cladding and front grille, Novitec’s FF also boasts ultra-light forged wheels, a new rear spoiler and diffuser, a high-performance stainless-steel exhaust system, and adjusted suspension. Complete the new racey look are Pirelli’s high-performance 22’’ tyres.

It was mainly disbelief hurled by media and Scuderia enthusiasts at Ferrari’s 4WD FF when it debuted, the fear being that one of the most charismatic supercar manufacturers had apparently gone all sensible. Nice to see that some lunacy has been brought back to Maranello’s pearly gates
