So, there we were, hanging out in Maranello, Italy (as you do), when we spot this orange bundle of awesome, parked up at the side of the road. It’s a Fiat 695 Abarth, the tuned up super-duper version of the iconic Fiat 500.
The chap that owns it – that’s him behind the wheel – works at Ferrari, and was presumably on his lunch hour. We say presumably, because he spoke no English and we speak precious little Italian.
So we made an approximation of conversation using traditional trans-foreigner gestures – thumbs up, big smiles, raising camera with inquisitive look on face. It seemed to work.
The chap – we never did get his name – was more than happy for us to snap away, and even hopped out to open the boot and bonnet for us.
There’s some serious care and attention gone into this little Abarth. Aside from the obvious – such as the painted tank above – we can’t really tell you much. Details are hard to come by when neither of the parties involved share a common language.
