Hyundai unveils a design language for its future luxury line-up at Frankfurt, courtesy of the Vision G Concept

It’s not all sport, performance and Playstation knock offs on Hyundai’s stand this year though, since the company has also unveiled the new Vision G concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
First introduced to the public at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours, the new Vision G is a design study ‘set to inspire a family of future premium products’, so if the badge on the bonnet hasn’t given the game away yet, expect Hyundai’s next generation Genesis to borrow some styling cues. And in a step away from concept car tradition, Hyundai has foregone garish ‘over-the-top’-ness in favour of a more sleek and subtle look. Inside for instance lies warm wood and white leather, plus a Remote Wheel connected to the car’s infotainment system, similar to the system used by BMW. On the outside, the long bonnet, high-beltline and sloping roof imbue, apparently, an ‘appearance of tension, like a loaded slingshot’.
Like we say, they’ve avoided over-the-top-ness…
Under the bonnet of the four-seater lies a 5.0-litre Tau V8 as found in the current gen Genesis, a unit that kicks out 420hp and 383lb ft of torque in the Vision G. In a step away from concept convention, there’s no hybrid faffery to be seen. Just plain old direct injection.
