[Not a valid template]Lamborghini has released images of what it calls the ‘most sports-oriented, fastest and most emotional series production’ model in its history, the LP 750-4 Superveloce.

Making its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the stunning Superveloce is based on the company’s existing Aventador but boasts more power and a lighter kerb weight to epitomize what the company calls the ‘purest essence of a Lamborghini super sports car’. The naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 now kicks out 750bhp (that’s 60bhp up on the standard model), 509lb ft of torque and weighs 50kg less at 1525kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 492bhp/ton. Performance figures are consequently eye-watering: 0-100kph takes just 2.8 seconds, 0-200kph only 8.6 seconds, and top speed is ‘more than’ 350kph.
Boasting the Aventador’s lightweight carbon fibre monocoque, the Superveloce is equipped with new door panels and new rockers and fenders in SMC superlight to produce a lower centre of gravity and thus greater manouvrability (that might also explain the new carbon fibre racing-style rear wing and fixed air intakes). Similar weight saving has also taken place on the inside, with lighter weight bucket sport seats. Even the infotainment system and floor mats have been given the heave ho.
As well as a stringent diet, the new LP 750-4 boasts pushrod suspension system that incorporates adaptive Magneto Rheological Suspension, as was first debuted on the Aventador. A mouthful, yes, but this – combined with adaptive damping – also aids stability under cornering, reducing body roll yet further and making steering more responsive.
Top of the Superveloce’s goodie list though is new electromechanical Lamborghini Dynamic Steering – specifically tuned for the LP 750-4 – for both greater stability at high speeds. Further performance can be found through super grippy Pirelli P Zero Corsa sports tyres – surrounding 20in matt black lightweight forged rims at the front and 21in at the rear – and a Carbon Ceramic Brake system as standard. As is also the case with the Aventador, the new Superveloce also utilizes Lamborghini’s all-wheel drive system, as denoted by the ‘4’ in the name.
Prices and production numbers have yet to be revealed in Geneva, but we’re guessing if you have to ask, it’s probably outside your budget…
