People of the UAE – get ready! The McLaren P1 is heading your way, and to whet your collective appetite McLaren has released images of its forthcoming new hypercar in Bahrain.

Of course, there’s some slight trickery involved – the P1 seen here is just the non-running concept. But a production-ready version is well underway, and should be seen for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show later this year. We expect it to be 95 percent the same as the concept.

What’s so special about the P1? Well, full details have yet to be revealed, but expect it to be stupendously powerful, but most notably boast a wealth of F1-inspired aerodynamic technology that will nail it to the road and track.

McLaren are designing the car to be used in both environments, and the P1 will boast a movable rear wing to put huge amounts of downforce at the back of the car for extra stability when cornering, as well as a Drag Reduction System lifted straight from F1 to ensure that straightline performance isn’t compromised.

Anyway, back to the Middle East. Sadly for the majority of UAE petrolheads, access to the P1 will be restricted to VIPs only, who are set to cop eyes on the car at a swanky event later this week.
