NewVolvo V90 revealed in Sweden ahead of its global debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show

Volvo has unveiled its new V90 estate in Sweden, and in doing so becomes the third member of Volvo’s ’90’ series alongside the XC and the S. The news comes shortly after images of the new V90 were accidentally leaked online and ahead of the V90’s planned debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Fans have noted the V90’s similarities to the Volvo Concept Estate that was first revealed back in 2014 – particularly about the ‘L-share’ taillights and low profile – but comparisons have also been made with the recently revealed S90 saloon on which the estate V90 is based. Most notable is the front, which seems almost completely unchanged over the S90, and which also includes ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlamps, a redesigned front grille and an aggressively raked windscreen. The inside meanwhile seemingly offers the same premium quality of the S90. Given Volvo’s history with estate models, we doubt customers will be disappointed though…
Both the S90 and V90 share the same Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) as the company’s flagship XC90, and are expected to share the same engine range. Though full details have still yet to be revealed, Volvo has confirmed that a T8 ‘Twin-Engine’ plug-in hybrid will join the established D4 and D5 diesel models, and ‘will deliver around 410 hp and a pure electric range of around 50 km.’ Higher-powered Polestar variants are expected to follow in due course.
