Now this little puppy gets me more than a little excited. I view Super GT through the same eyes as V8 Supercars, DTM and FIA GT – i.e. The best forms of racing out there. So when a new car comes along that causes such a fuss you have to take note. Honda have been ploughing on very successfully over the years with the Honda NSX even though the car is very very long in the tooth. So when sneaky shots of the proposed NSX popped up on the net peeps started getting excited about what could be possible.

Lest we forget that Honda stepped out of F1 at the end of the season before last, giving them some flexibility with their Motorsport program. Thanks to the guys at www.autoblog.com we bring you some juicy info and some great pics. Based on reports from the ground, Honda will campaign four HSV-010s in the 2010 season, each of which was testing at the racetrack late last week.

The driver line-up hasn’t been officially disclosed yet, but the new coupes will bear the numbers 8, 18, 32 and 100 at their debut May 20-21 at Suzuka. Powering the HSV-010 (which stands for Honda Sports Velocity) is a 3.4-liter V8 mounted in front and sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox — the same transmission used by Nissan and Toyota on its GT500 contenders.

Sadly Honda has no plans to sell a road-going version of the HSV-010 to consumers. How can they race it I hear you ask!! Well Honda has found a loop-hole in the SuperGT regulations that allows the automaker to campaign a car in the series that’s “production feasible” but not in production….Always a nice loop to find.So enjoy the vid and the pics…Ill be booking my flights to Japan next year!
