In 1972 the most powerful road racing car in the world was the Porsche 917-10. With a turbocharged 12-cylinder engine producing over 1000hp, it dominated the North American Can-Am Championship and ended a five-year reign by McLaren. The most successful Porsche 917-10 was prepared by Penske Racing Team and driven by Mark Donahue and George Follmer. Having recently sold at the Monterey Auctions for a staggering five million dollars we hope the new owner has plans to get it back out on track.
