Maserati has unveiled a brand new concept car at the Paris Motor Show based on its established Ghibli mid-sized saloon.
[Not a valid template]The new Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna Edition – another celebratory model in the company’s centenary year following the special Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Edition debuted in Frankfurt – represents a potential design DNA for upcoming models.
The exclusive nature of the new concept comes courtesy of new materials on both the inside and outside, designed in partnership with Italian fashion label, Ermenegildo Zegna. The exterior for example boasts a new Azzurro Astro colour, a collection of tri-layered pigmentations to create a paint finish that seems to change colour under different lighting. On top of the paint is a coating called Liquid Metal, designed to offset the car’s aggressive design and bodylines, the collection of which rolls on 20in ‘Urano’ wheels.
The interior though is where the true collaboration (read ‘pretension’) between Maserati and Ermenegildo Zegna shines through, courtesy of carbon fibre inlays and Poltrona Frau leathers, as well as ‘Ermenegildo Zegna Exclusively for Maserati’ plaques. Expect words like ‘elegant’ and ‘visual impact’ to be used in the showrooms should the Ghibli Ermenegildo Zegna Edition make production.
The concept is powered by the same 410hp twin-turbo V6 as found in the Ghibli and utilises four-wheel drive. Thanks also 406lb ft of torque, the concept hits 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 284kph.
