This will be the first time that the complete course will be paved from top to bottom which, although a controversial decision, guarantees a faster pace than ever. The climb begins at 9,390 feet and ascends to 14,110 feet making it an endurance test for man and machine with both gasping for air in the higher altitudes. Many of the main teams will be bypassing the altitude sickness (for the car at least) by entering electric vehicles and Toyota will be there with the TMG EV P001 which lapped the Nürburgring in an incredible 7m 47s. Eco-racers will most definitely be mixing it with the high-octane brigade and some pundits are even predicting an electric powered win.

Last year Nobuhiro ‘Monster” Tajima smashed his previous record that had stood since 2007 and covered the 12.42 mile course in under 10 minutes driving the GoPro Suzuki SX4 developed by Monster Sport.
