‘Project Le Mans 24H’ tells the story of Gulf Racing Middle East and their efforts during last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans
Whilst I was busy getting carried away with Audi’s 1-2-3 at Test Day for the 2013 24 Hours of Le Mans, there was one team I overlooked: Gulf Racing Middle East.
The line-up includes – as always – team boss Fabien Giroux and team regular Frederic Fatien, who will be driving with fellow Ghaul Philippe Haezebrouck and Keiko Ihara, who drove one of the team’s two entries last year. A rain-affected session saw the LMP2 Lola B12/80-Nissan complete just 12 laps and post a best time of 4m 13.193s, slotting them in 56th in the 61 car-strong field. Still, as we saw with the Nurburgring 24 Hours, qualifying and free practice mean little when faced with a full day of racing.
We’ve seen them in action (intermittently) at the Dubai 24 Hours, caught snaps of the Lola B12/80 in production ahead of the 2012 season, and caught up with Le Mans aspirant Khaled Al Mudhaf during the team’s pre-season shakedown at the Dubai Autodrome. Now we can see how they got on during last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in a feature-length film dedicated to their efforts during the weekend.
Fans of House M.D. will no doubt enjoy the title sequence at 3m 20s. And we’ve got our fingers crossed that your French is up to snuff, since there’s no subtitles.
