The interior has been completely stripped out and a cage fabricated by a2b Garage. An AP Racing pedal box has been installed which sits about 10 cm’s closer to the driver requiring everything to be pushed back in the car. A switch panel mounted behind the rear view mirror and another beside the driver seat ensure everything is still within reach for Phil. Both switch panels were away at the time of our visit along with the dash as they were also getting powder coated
Wheels are 18 x 10 Rota Grid 5 spokes at all four corners behind which sit G4 6-pot calipers up front and G4 4-pot calipers at the rear.
The heart of any Godzilla is the RB26DETT and this one is far from stock. An R33 crank and upgraded bearings, rods, pistons and Tomei B-Spec cams are only a few of the items on the massive spec sheet. The addition of a Mountainrunner centre diff controller allows adjustment of the percentage of power transference to the front and rear wheels.
The twin-turbo setup has been maintained due to the inherent lag associated in single massive turbo upgrades. The original items have however been replaced with Garrett 2860-7’s which are a favoured upgrade with Skyline tuners. Quite how much power this particular Godzilla will be pushing out when it is complete is still an unknown quantity but crankandpiston will be back to find out when Phil completes the build of his Bathurst inspired GT-R.
As I grabbed the last shot of the day I couldn’t help but chuckle a little as the cement truck drivers from CEMEX across the road were pointing and staring at the Skyline. Phil, it is not too late to get some sponsorship. The colour scheme is perfect.
Thanks to Phil Anson, Gulf Petrolheads and the team at a2b Garage.
