When these photographs of a drag strip prepared R32 Nissan Skyline, sent by our friend Mohammad Al Yassi, landed on our virtual desktop it created a bit of a debate amongst the crankandpiston team.
Exact specifications on this particular R32 are slim, however, what we do know is that it was built by Ali Bahlooq at High Speed Workshop in Ajman. With a claimed 1380 hp (with Nos) and a quarter mile run of 7.3 seconds under its belt, the addition of a braking parachute no doubt becomes a necessity.
Super skinny Hoosier drag radials mounted up front and massive ones at the rear, this Skyline certainly has a purposeful stance. There is nothing superfluous in the design. Everything has been built for function and that function is sheer acceleration on the drag strip.
This singularity of purpose carries over to the interior. Stripped out and devoid of anything apart from the bare essentials: a seat, a steering wheel, obligatory gauges and a 3 speed automatic transmission programmed for self-shifting with a BDM ECU.
None of these elements would have made us bat an eyelid, after all, high-powered Skylines are nothing new. Our antipodean chums have been churning out massively powered Skylines for decades and the key to unleashing all that power is the legendary RB engine.
