Out front, Wells and Littlejohn once again had enough of a cushion to make sure the second pitstop went smoothly. Once again, things went awry. An uncooperative transmission refused to yield any gears, and attempts to bump-start the #3 car down only left Littlejohn stranded on pitroad. The AUH Motorsport crew had little choice but to remove the engine cover on pitroad to find the problem. Five laps later, the #3 had plummeted from 1st to 11th. An SR8 podium was in the bag, but the chance for outright victory was gone. From the back of the grid, Grogor and Al Thani once again took the spoils ahead of Sykes and Kemp.
Just goes to show that sometimes David doesn’t beat Goliath.
