Affectionately christened ‘the knobbly’, the Lister (powered in this 1959 example by a Chevrolet engine) stepped up to the World Sports Car Championship plate in 1957 having thoroughly trounced manufacturer opposition during the previous seasons. Only clutch issues cost the Lister victory on its debut, after setting both pole position and fastest lap in the race.

It wasn’t to be a fairy-tale ending for Lister though, with financially strain leading to the factory doors closing in late-1959. It’s unsure exactly how many Lister were made, with between 34 and 50 remaining the ball park figure.
