The Ferrari F40 is a tough act to follow. The F50 – Ferrari’s half-centennial celebratory model – put up a good fight though: a 4.7l V12, 0-100kph in 3.2s, and a 312kph top speed in 1995 were hardly figures to scoff at.

Sadly though the public’s imaginations wasn’t stirred, and against its more established brethren – rather ironically the succeeding Ferrari Enzo did pretty well too – the F50 slipped quietly into relative obscurity. That is unless you’re a crankandpiston representative, in which case you give the two-seater the spotlight it deserves.
