Both scarlet, yet neither one Ferrari.
True, one – the Ford GT40 – was born out of an unfortunate incident back in the day when Ferrari pulled out of a merger with the American giant at the eleventh hour, inciting Ford to build a sports car that would comprehensively humiliate Italy’s finest at Le Mans.
And of course the other – the Lamborghini Miura – was born from the company’s desire to produce a supercar both devilishly quick and sedate. A grand tourer that could belt its occupants to over 250kph without rattling the fillings from their teeth, unlike the race-derived machines rolling off the Maranello conveyor belt at the time.
