Detroit Electric unveils teaser clip of its new electric sports car, the SP:01
Another day another electric car, this time from the heart of Motown. The below teaser comes from Detroit Electric, which teases both the final design of its new brand image and its first electric sports car, the SP:01.
Complete with lightning strikes and company blue and white colours, the video demonstrates what Detroit Electric calls the ‘power of electric performance’, a statement validated by the SP:01 itself.
The new rear-wheel drive model is powered by a mid-mounted 210kW electric motor and a lightweight purpose-designed battery pack that produces 278hp. Thanks to a glass-reinforced polymer bodywork and 206lb ft of torque, the limited edition two-seat electric sports car will hit 0-100kph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 250kph. That puts it in Hennessey Venom GT and Porsche 918 Spyder.
