4. Renault Laguna

Arguably one of the best-looking touring cars in the sort-of modern era, thanks to its nifty yellow/blue paint scheme. Given the extensive input from Formula 1 team Williams, which was on a roll during the early-late ‘90s, the Williams Renault Dealer Racing machines were fast too, quickly netting Alain Menu his first of two BTCC championships after a dominant season in 1997. The pace of the Laguna also established an oft-remembered rivalry between the Swiss, Germany’s Frank Biela and Sweden’s Rickard Rydell. It was a car and a season which, by the by, also introduced a young upstart called Jason Plato to the BTCC big time, an arena he still competes in today.
