The Al Jazirah Ford Racing Team Mustangs roared through the series of turns in a twin V8 cacophony of American muscle. I am still fond of the old school JDM cool but there is no denying displacement is a potent weapon in the drifter’s arsenal.
It was Muath Al-Essa that drifted ahead of his teammate Abdulhadi Al-Qahtani in the end to secure second place in a drift series that is rapidly approaching international level.
Hatim Natto, who was Doing The Dew for the Dew Crew in the Mountain Dew FD RX-7, took the Drift UAE event top spot. A Saudi 1-2-3 proved, at this round at least, that KSA is one sideways step ahead of the UAE game.
Drift on a slightly smaller scale was taking place within the confines of the pit area. Extreme Hobbies and Dub Drift were running a Drift King Competition in 1:8 scale.
With rounds of Auto-X and Drift UAE mixed in with a car show, open drag strip event and many other activities, The Chase continues to up the ante as to what is possible in a single day, a single venue and a single determination to bring together an electric mix of automotive passions.
However, with enough petrol fumes sniffed for one day, it was eventually time for the crankandpiston crew to Bug out. Looking forward to the next one when the long summer months are finally over.
