Life with our Management Fleet MINI Mayfair has in the ultimate cliche, been a mini adventure. From operating as the daily hack in the office, ferrying us around Dubai and the Northern Emirates, to even throwing in a helping hand when it came to us moving from our dinky office to our new super sexy duplex in Media City. You would never have believed just how much of Ikea we managed to get stuffed into it with the rear seats folded down flat! We stood there in awe after squeezing in a desk and two office chairs, not to mention the desktop lamps, plant pots and two laptop bags.
However the most fun I’ve had in said MINI was a couple of weeks ago at the penultimate round of the UAE GT Championship held at the Dubai Autodrome. During the early part of the season KTM had very kindly offered us the use of one of the ATVs, however the team had to call it back to their workshop for a service and then in turn it was sold. Sad day it was… for us!
But the little Mayfair was well up for taking on the task of hacking around the track and being jumped in and out of while I made sure that every corner of the track was covered during the race. Gunning around the loose shale/dust road that loops round the outside of the track proved to a be hoot, especially with the deft handling and responsive engine. If I kicked up dust at the time, I must apologise to the racers, however at the time… I was having way too much fun!
