In 1997, an avoidance test of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class resulted in it rolling over unexpectedly. As well as forcing Merc to tweak their new car, the test also brought international attention to the Moose Test.

A standard procedure in Sweden since the 1970s, the Moose Test is so named because it replicates the regional issue of a moose wandering aimlessly into the road. Drivers have to suddenly turn to avoid it. The actual test is generally done with cones rather than an actual moose, and these days manufacturers across the world are keen to ensure their cars can pass.

Not so much with the Toyota 86, however. We’re not sure that this counts as a pass. But it’s damn entertaining.
