So the long weekend in the UAE was being spent in the normal way at crankandpiston: a spot of lunch; camera in-hand; a couple of Stanced cars; y’know, the usual thing. We hadn’t counted on four cars with with black and white camouflaged paint to helpfully roll past our shutters though.
The black and white coated shiznit was a three-pointed star fest, and included the brand new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Avant, the CLA shooting brake station wagon, and the diminutive SMART ForTwo. Plus a brand new Mercedes…something. We’ve been scanning the SUV of the bunch trying to work out what the model is.
As you’d expect with any and all spied test models, details are few and far between, but a range of four and six-cylinder engines have been hinted. Rumo(u)rs are also circulating that the C-Class Avant could well make its debut later in the year.
If spotting four new camouflaged prototypes in one day wasn’t cool enough, none of the drivers floored away into the horizon when they spotted the crankandpiston lenses. Instead, they drove around the car park at minimal speed. Maybe they were just interested what camera I was using…
